Balliol's graduate housing is located around the college's Graduate Centre at Holywell Manor, some ten minutes' walk from the main college site in Broad Street. It consists of Holywell Manor itself, which dates from 1516 (including James Fairfax Yard, an annexe attached to the Manor), some rooms at Jowett Walk, and four new accommodation blocks at the Master’s Field, completed in 2021.
Balliol is right in the centre of Oxford, close to laboratories, lecture theatres and libraries, as well as shops, transport links and the city’s many attractions. The main site is on Broad Street. Behind the 19 th-century façade is the Front Quad, with the Chapel, built in 1857, and the College’s oldest, 15 th-century buildings.

Undergraduates are guaranteed accommodation for all the years of their course. For the first year, each Fresher undergraduate is allocated a single study-bedroom (usually with shared bathroom facilities) on the Broad Street site. The photographs below are examples of some of our Broad Street rooms; above is one of the rooms at the Master’s Field.
The Broad Street site is arranged round two Quads and the Fellows’ Garden. There are accommodation buildings on Jowett Walk and Master’s Field. There is a mix of different ages and styles of buildings and some are more accessible than others. There is one accessible bedroom on the Broad Street site and three at Jowett Walk.
