James Graham, 1st Marquess of Montrose (1612 – 21 May 1650) was a Scottish poet and a nobleman and soldier. Graham was born in 1612. His father was John, 4th earl of Montrose; his mother before her marriage was Lady Margaret, the eldest daughter of William Ruthven, 1st earl of Gowrie.[1]
