  2. Childhood & Early Life. David Ige was born on January 15, 1957 in Pearl City, Hawaii, to Tokio and Tsurue Ige. He is the fifth of six sons. His father served in the 100th Battalion, 442nd Regimental Combat Team of the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
