Keenen Ivory Wayans penned this one-hour pilot that brings his I’M GONNA GIT YOU SUCKA characters to television. Wayans, who wrote, directed, and starred in the 1988 comedy, relinquishes his role of naive rookie cop Jack Spade to future ER actor Eriq LaSalle, who sets out to prove newly retired hero cop Ray Samuels (SUPERFLY’s Ron O’Neal) is being framed for burglary.
In this universe, Jack Spade's a rookie cop, John Slade's an ex-cop, and Hammer & Slammer are retired private eyes. Wheras in the original film, Jack was an ex-army file clerk, and the other three were merely known as "crimefighters".
