  1. In Durham, confusingly, a common room is both a group of people and a physical space. The MCR is one of four “common rooms” in St John’s. The first two are separate: the Senior Common Room (SCR) and the St John’s Common Room (SJCR). The SCR is made up of senior college members, such as the Principal and Senior Tutor.
