Elizabeth Medora Leigh (15 April 1814 – 28 August 1849) was the third daughter of Augusta Leigh. It is widely speculated that she was fathered by her mother's half-brother Lord Byron ; this is supported by comments from his widow, even though her mother's husband, Colonel George Leigh, was her legal father.
Augusta loved unwisely—ever; too well—always. Byron's biographers and the literary historians have tended to dismiss Augusta as vapid, amoral, and generally weak. This portrait, which makes excellent use of excerpts from the correspondence of all the parties involved, is kinder.
18 de abr. de 2024 · Another of Byron’s love affairs wrapped in scandal – but somewhat unconfirmed – was with his married half-sister, Augusta Leigh. Despite being half-siblings, the two hadn’t met until Byron was a student at Harrow. After this meeting, the two wrote to each other regularly.
