The press at the time were pretty ignorant of a Keeler-Profumo affair although by now Christine was a regular visitor to Ward's house at Wimpole Street and his rented Buckinghamshire cottage.

Profumo was asked about it in the House of Commons, and lied: he said he had not had an affair with Keeler.

John Profumo, Minister for War in Harold Macmillan's cabinet, had an affair with Christine Keeler, who was, at the same time, also sleeping with a known Russian spy.
