Há 3 dias · The murder of the tenant of Frampton Place by his son in 1893 is said to have inspired John Masefield's poem 'No man takes the farm'. (fn. 217) The local legend of the 'Bisley Boy', which concerns the death of the infant Queen Elizabeth I at Bisley and the substitution of a boy child, has gained wide currency.

John Guillim (1565-1621), a pioneer writer on heraldry, was the son of John Guillim of Westbury; either father or son held free and customary lands from Rodley manor in 1591. John Masefield's play The Tragedy of Nan is set at Broadoak in the early 19th century.

Within a short distance are the renowned independent schools of Malvern, St James' Girls School and Malvern College as well as The Chase state school.
