18 de nov. de 2021 · Samuel Taylor Coleridge was born on 21 October 1772 in the rural town of Ottery St Mary, Devonshire, England, and was the tenth and youngest child of Ann Bowdon Coleridge and John Coleridge. His father, John, was born in 1719 and was sent to the Crediton Grammar School until the age of 15, when money troubles within the family meant he needed to seek employment.
Samuel Coleridge-Taylor (1875-1912) was, and remains, Britain’s greatest Black classical music composer. He died however aged only 37, and until this last year there has been no formally constituted organisation to celebrate his legacy and take forward his reputation.

After the death of his father he attended Christ’s Hospital School: ‘I was reared / In the great city, pent mid cloisters dim / And saw nought lovely but the sky and stars.’ (‘Frost at Midnight’)
Samuel Taylor Coleridge was an English poet and one of the most influential writers of the Romanticism movement. He was born in Devonshire, England, in October of 1772. After his father died, Coleridge moved to London, where he studied at Christ’s Hospital School. While there, he accumulated a large debt that followed him for his entire life.
