You can see its tower rising up over Ewelme, as you approach. This ancient village was the Medieval home of Alice Chaucer and William de la Pole, Duke and Duchess of Suffolk.

Throughout her life, she married three times, ascending to high status as a Lady of the Most Noble Order of the Garter, an honor marking her close relationship with King Henry VI and Margaret of Anjou, facilitated by her marriage to William de la Pole, 1st Duke of Suffolk.
