Nelson Smock Riddle Jr. (June 1, 1921 – October 6, 1985) [1] was an American arranger, composer, bandleader and orchestrator whose career stretched from the late 1940s to the mid-1980s.

Riddle began his career in the 1940s as a trombonist-arranger for the orchestras of Tommy Dorsey, Bob Crosby, Charlie Spivak, and Jerry Wald.
4 de jun. de 2021 · Nelson Riddle died on 6 October 1985, aged 64, in Cedars-Sinai Hospital, Los Angeles. He was far and away the most well-known arranger in the jazz/pop fields, easily eclipsing the likes of Jerry Gray, Sy Oliver and his early mentor, Bill Finnegan.
