25 de out. de 2023 · Encouraged by Rugby School’s influential headmaster Thomas Arnold (headmaster from 1828-1842), many pupils from this time were instrumental in the game’s expansion. By 1841, the rules and fame of ‘rugby’ had spread fast as Rugby School’s pupils moved on to university, (mostly to Oxford and Cambridge), prompting a need for standardisation.
Rugby School, 50mins by train from London Euston, is one of the most famous British boarding schools. It is steeped in history, yet manages to have one foot firmly in the 21st century. The teachers are excellent; facilities here are fantastic; the sports, as one would expect of the school that invented the eponymous ball game, is very competitive.
