Thomas Edward Lawrence (født 16. august 1888, død 19. maj 1935) var en britisk arkæolog, officer og forfatter, også kendt som T.E. Lawrence og mest berømt som Lawrence of Arabia. Han blev internationalt kendt for sin rolle som officer ved det arabiske oprør mod det Osmanniske Rige under første verdenskrig .
Edited by G. B. Shaw and Mrs Shaw, it was published privately in 1926 (trade edition, 1935). There has been much discussion of Lawrence’s complicated, unusual personality, and of his years, from 1922 onwards, as an aircraftsman (under the assumed name of J. H. Ross) and as a private soldier (having changed his name, by deed poll, to T. E. Shaw).
Object description. The Short Lee Enfield Rifle used by T E Lawrence during the Arab Revolt. The initials TEL and the date 4.12.16 are carved near the magazine, together with 5 notches, the largest of which was made when a Turkish officer was shot by Lawrence.
