Domenic Troiano was born in Modugno, Italy in 1946. Troiano and his family came to Toronto in 1949 and he became a naturalized Canadian in 1955. Troiano subsequently played lead guitar 1972-73 for the US band the James Gang and 1974-75 for the Guess Who. In Toronto he led the Domenic Troiano Band 1977-79 and Black Market in 1981 before turning exclusively to studio work as a composer, producer, and guitarist.
Troiano will be remembered as a legendary force in the Canadian music world. He played in groups such as The Mandala and Bush, before replacing Joe Walsh in The James Gang, then joining The Guess Who. He fronted the Domenic Troiano Band and Black Market in the late '70s and early '80s.
