For this reason, on the occasion of the 75th Anniversary of the Atlantic Alliance’s founding treaty, IAI organizes the NATO Spring School, realized with the support of the US Embassy in Rome. The initiative aims to expose participants to existing debates and initiatives within NATO, endowing them with a deeper understanding of the challenges the Alliance faces as well as of the way it works.

NSO conducts hundreds of multinational programmes annually in direct support of current and developing operations, strategy, policy, doctrine and procedures.
Die heutige NATO School ging aus der im März 1953 gegründeten U.S. Army Special Weapons School hervor und bot in diesem Jahr zwei Kurse an. 1975 wurde sie in NATO School (SHAPE) umbenannt. Am 18. Dezember 1984 versuchten Terroristen der Roten Armee Fraktion, in der NATO School eine Bombe zu zünden, was allerdings fehlschlug.
