Berkshire took over administration of Slough and Eton and part of the former Eton Rural District from Buckinghamshire. The northern part of the county came under governance of Oxfordshire , with Faringdon , Wantage and Abingdon and their hinterland becoming the Vale of White Horse district, and Didcot and Wallingford added to South Oxfordshire district.

Eton leži na temzinom otoku u Grofoviji Berkshire [2], točno nasuprot Windsora, koji leži na sjevernoj obali rijeke Temze, udaljen samo 800 metara, i svega nekih 3 km južno od Slougha, pa je praktički spojen sa tim gradovima u jednu urbanu cjelinu. Kako leži svega 34 km zapadno od centra Londona, zapravo je i dio te metropole .
Since Eton is in the historical county of Berkshire, but administratively in Windsor and Maidenhead UA, I think it should be moved to Eton, Windsor and Maidenhead or maybe Eton, England (the naming conventions page is misleading, since Berkshire no longer exists as an administrative county).
