A Queen is Crowned is a documentary as it should be: informative, objective and proud of the craft. The entire coronation, pageantry and fanfare is documented well, albeit a bit static. Nevertheless you get a great view of one of recent history's greatest moments.
The carriage is also a work of art and demands to be seen. The narration and music are toned down once the service begins. The Queen's voice is actually quite quiet during the parts where she speaks. We also get a glimpse of the great and the good as they were in 1953, their images now preserved on film forever.

I suppose most of us have known only one Queen: Elisabeth II. She was already on the throne when I was not even born. When she was crowned in 1953 the world was so much different from today's world. The changes have effected as well the monarchy. Then The Queen was rather untouchable and revered, today one asks how long the monarchy will survive.
