Barry Michael Cooper is a producer and writer, known for New Jack City (1991), Sugar Hill (1993) and Above the Rim (1994) and She's Gotta Have It (2017-2019). A former investigative reporter for the Village Voice and Spin Magazine, Cooper was one of the first journalists to report on the crack-cocaine epidemic in the mid-1980s.

Formerly a police officer in Texas, Cooper is best known for KopBusters , a series of online videos in which he attempts to document police misconduct , and Never Get Busted Again , a series of videos aimed at teaching citizens how to evade false arrest by the police.
