Wendy Davis. Wendy Davis served as a Texas state senator from 2009 to 2015. She was the 2014 Democratic nominee for Texas governor and the 2020 Democratic nominee for the U.S. House of Representatives for Texas' 21st District. Davis was born on May 16, 1963 in West Warwick, Rhode Island. Her family moved to Texas when she was 11 years old.
