Il aurait vendu à la foire d'automne de Francfort en septembre 1608 des lunettes astronomiques et prétend avec d'autres ( Hans Lipperhey et Jacob Metius ) en être le créateur.
Zacharias Janssen nasceu nos Países Baixos em 1580 e morreu em 1638. Desenvolveu uma pesquisa com um tubo e duas lentes, chamado depois de microscópio composto em 1590.
