Biography of Vasily Shukshin Shukshin, Vasily Makarovich. Actor, film director, and writer born on 25 July 1929 in a peasant family in the Siberian village of Srostki, located in the Altai krai. In 1933, his father was executed either for sabotage in the kolkhoz or for inciting a riot.

Raised in very humble surroundings in Siberia in years that spanned WWII, he lost his father at a very early age to Stalin’s purges, and his stepfather to the war. Based on his birth father he was an “enemy of the people”, and somewhat of an outcast to the collectives.
Shukshin policy wise is somewhat similar to Teddy Roosevelt from America, he is still very much a capitalist but endorses improved pay and working conditions, shorter working hours, environmentalism, and regulating the corporations so they don’t abuse the workers.
