The Five Pennies is a delightful and engaging drama, loosely based on the life of American jazz cornetist and bandleader, Red Nichols. While I enjoy listening to other well known band leaders of the time, such as Glenn Miller and Benny Goodman, I admit that I had never heard of Red Nichols.
