Balliol College är ett college vid Oxfords universitet, beläget vid Broad Street i den norra delen av Oxfords historiska innerstad. Det grundades omkring 1263 av John de Balliol och är ett av universitetets tre äldsta college (de andra två är University College och Merton College ).

Balliol has existed as a community of scholars on its present Broad Street site without interruption since about 1263. By this token it claims to be the oldest college in Oxford, and in the English-speaking world. In 1260 a dispute between John de Balliol and the Bishop of Durham erupted into violence and Henry III condemned Balliol’s behaviour.
Balliol was in 1973 the first of the traditional all-male colleges to elect a woman as a Fellow and Tutor, and the College has admitted women as students since 1979: one of them, Masako Owada (Balliol 1988 – 90, resident in Holywell Manor 1988 – 9 ), was married to HIH The Crown Prince of Japan in June 1993.

Balliol College has a long tradition as a welcoming, outward-looking and inclusive community of scholars, students and alumni, and will be seeking to appoint a Chaplain who will maintain and enhance that ethos.
