KASTURBA GANDHI (Birth: 11 April, 1869 - Death: 22nd Feb, 1944) The Kasthurba Gandhi National Memorial Trust (K. G. N. M. T) was established in 1945 as a result of the National endeavor, lead by Mahatma Gandhi, to address the issues of women in Rural India.

In 1913 she took part in protests against the ill-treatment of Indian immigrants in South Africa. Kasturba and Gandhi left South Africa in July 1914 and returned to live in India.
