Other Trades and Crafts. There was a potash kiln in Old Stratford in 1713 operated by Stephen Holwell; it burnt down in about 1745 and a house was built on the site. (fn. 139) Another kiln appears to have been newly built on the Cosgrove side of Watling Street in 1758, when it was occupied by James Hall.
