Meclemburgo[ 1] (em alemão: Mecklenburg; em baixo-alemão: Mekelnborg) é uma região localizada no norte da Alemanha que compreende a parte ocidental do estado de Meclemburgo-Pomerânia Ocidental. As maiores cidades da região são Rostock, Schwerin, e Neubrandenburg .
Mecklenburg is known for its mostly flat countryside. Much of the terrain is boggy, with ponds, marshes and fields as common features, with small forests interspersed. The terrain changes as one moves north towards the Baltic Sea . Under the peat of Mecklenburg are sometimes found deposits of ancient lava flows.
O estado de Meclemburgo-Pomerânia Ocidental foi criado em 31 de julho de 1945. Passou a ser parte da República Democrática Alemã, tendo sido dissolvido em 1952 e dividido em três distritos, até ser integrado novamente como Estado da República Federal da Alemanha, em 1990.

Schwerin is the state capital and Rostock is the largest city. Other major cities include Neubrandenburg, Stralsund, Greifswald, Wismar, and Güstrow. It was named after the two regions of Mecklenburg and Fore Pomerania .
