John Ponsonby, 1º visconde Ponsonby (c. 1770 – 22 de fevereiro de 1855) foi um diplomata e político britânico. Era o filho mais velho de William Ponsonby, 1º Baron Ponsonby. Serviu como membro da Irish House of Commons por Tallaght (1793–1797) e por Dungarvan (1797–1800).

Scope and Content. Ponsonby came from a family with lands in Ireland, and his interest in Irish matters is apparent in the papers. In 1826 he was appointed envoy extraordinary and minister plenipotentiary to Buenos Aires, and from there went to Rio Janeiro in the same capacity in 1828.
