The Internet. While working on the SATNET satellite packet network project, he came up with the initial ideas for what later became the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP), which was intended as a replacement for an earlier network protocol, NCP, used in the ARPANET.

16 de out. de 2024 · Robert Kahn was born in New York, New York, in 1938. He holds a BEE from the City College of New York (1960), and MA and PhD degrees from Princeton (1962, 1964). Together with Vint Cerf, Kahn is known as "the father of the Internet."

Robert Kahn was born 23 December 1938, in Brooklyn, New York. He earned his B.E.E. in electrical engineering at the City College of New York in 1960 and went on to earn his M.A. (1962) and Ph.D. (1964) in electrical engineering from Princeton.
Robert Kahn is the co-inventor of the TCP/IP protocols and was responsible for originating DARPA’s Internet program. Known as one of the “Fathers of the Internet,” Kahn demonstrated the ARPANET by connecting 20 different computers at the International Computer Communication Conference.
