Many Cambridge Colleges enjoy a traditional and popular part of College life known as Formal Hall. Formal Hall dining takes place three times a week at Sidney, and students can bring guests along and enjoy a three-course meal served in our Dining Hall. Our servery dishes up a variety of hot and cold options for lunch and supper throughout the week.
Hall Opening Times: Lunch: Monday-Friday: 12:30 - 13:30. Brunch: Saturdays, 11:30 - 13:30. Supper: Every day, 17:45 - 19:00. Formal Hall: Sidney has Formals on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Formals start at 19:30 sharp and if you are drinking wine you’ll need to purchase it from the buttery (located next to the normal entrance to Hall).
Formal Hall are formal dinners in the College dining hall which are often themed and always hugely popular. We promote interaction with other Cambridge Colleges by organising 'swaps' with their Formal Halls.

Accommodation is guaranteed for up to 4 years; our undergraduates live on site or a short walk away, right in the heart of the city. Sidney Hall serves one of the best brunches out of all the colleges, as well as providing meals with plenty of variety throughout the week which represent good value for money. There are also three formals a week, where you can enjoy a three course meal with silver service for just £9.
