Nepean (/ n ə ˈ p iː ən / nə-PEE-ən) is a former municipality and now geographic area of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Located west of Ottawa's inner core, it was an independent city until amalgamated with the Regional Municipality of Ottawa–Carleton in 2001 to become the new city of Ottawa .

11 de nov. de 2009 · Nepean, Ont, was a city (incorporated from 1978 to 2001) until it and 10 other municipalities were merged into the new city of Ottawa. Nepean was named in honour of Sir Evan Nepean, head of the colonial branch of the British Home Office. Nepean's first permanent settler came to the area in 1810.
