Laurence Michael Harvey Parsons, 6th Earl of Rosse, KBE (28 September 1906 – 5 July 1979) was an Anglo-Irish peer.

Laurence Michael Harvey Parsons, 6th Earl of Rosse was born on 28 September 1906. He was the son of William Edward Parsons, 5th Earl of Rosse and Frances Lois Lister-Kaye. He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England. He succeeded as the 9th Baronet Parsons, of Birr Castle [I., 1677] on 10 June 1918.

The Hon. Desmond Parsons was the younger brother of Michael, the 6th Earl. He was born in 1910, studied at Oxford. Good looking and charming, he was also a brilliant linguist and in 1934 he went to China where his friend Harold Acton was already in the Beijing lecturing at Peking National University.
The castle is lived in today by Brendan and Alison Parsons, Earl and Countess of Rosse – Brendan is the seventh earl – who have transformed an old stable block into Ireland’s Historic Science Centre, celebrating the extraordinary achievements of their ancestors.
