Edward Michael Pakenham, 2nd Baron Longford (1 April 1743 – 3 June 1792) was an Anglo-Irish naval officer, peer and landowner. Early life. Pakenham was the son of Thomas Pakenham, 1st Baron Longford and Elizabeth Cuffe, 1st Countess of Longford. His parents had seven children, including Sir Thomas Pakenham, a Royal Navy officer. [1]

His second son, Major-General Hon. Sir Edward Michael Pakenham, served the Army in the Napoleonic Wars with distinction, was appointed commander-in-chief of the Army in North America in 1814, and was killed at the Battle of New Orleans in 1815.

Major General Sir Edward Michael Pakenham, GCB (19 March 1778 – 8 January 1815), was an Anglo-Irish Army officer and politician. He was the son of the Baron Longford and the brother-in-law of the Duke of Wellington, with whom he served in the Peninsular War.
Edward Michael Pakenham, 2 nd Baron Longford, married Catherine Rowley, daughter of Hercules Langford Rowley of Summerhill, County Kilkenny, in 1768. He was in the Royal Navy but retired from the military in 1766, when he succeeded as 2nd Baron Longford.
