The Theresan Military Academy was founded in 1752 and is one of the oldest military academies in the world. In compliance with the timeless, straightforward order issued by Empress Maria Theresia in 1751 "Make them fine officers and righteous men!"
Originally intended as a training center for 100 noblemen and 100 commoners, the military academy became the cadre school of the Habsburg Empire. Even today, a new cohort of well-trained men and women is mustered out every year.
