www.xeno-canto.org ("Xeno-canto", "XC") is a website for sharing recordings of wildlife sounds from all across the world. It was started in 2005 by Bob Planqué and Willem-Pier Vellinga (see below for some history).
Advanced Search. Searches are case-insensitive. Wildcards such as '*' are not necessary. Where possible, we will search for your query term as a substring of the full field. Occasionally, a wildcard search does not deliver the best results.

Together with Willem-Pier Vellinga and Sander Pieterse, I run xeno-canto.org, the world's largest community database of wildelife sound recording. It currently features about 800,000 recordings of more than 11,000 species of birds, grasshoppers and bats, shared by more than 10,000 recordists from around the globe.
