Italian (italiano, Italian: [itaˈljaːno] ⓘ, or lingua italiana, Italian: [ˈliŋɡwa itaˈljaːna]) is a Romance language of the Indo-European language family that evolved from the Vulgar Latin of the Roman Empire.
