Aristotle provided a complex synthesis of the various philosophies existing prior to him. His teachings and methods of inquiry have had a significant impact across the world, and remain a subject of contemporary philosophical discussion. Aristotle's views profoundly shaped medieval scholarship.
Aristotle is a towering figure in ancient Greek philosophy, who made important contributions to logic, criticism, rhetoric, physics, biology, psychology, mathematics, metaphysics, ethics, and politics. He was a student of Plato for twenty years but is famous for rejecting Plato’s theory of forms.

O filósofo discordava de ideia básicas do mestre Platão. Esse pensava existir um mundo de ideias ou formas, invisível, capaz de se conhecido apenas através do raciocínio, do qual o mundo que observamos com nossos olhos é uma cópia. Aristóteles, em seu liceu, ensina que não existem ideias independentes das coisas como alegava o criador da Academia.
