Unless otherwise noted, areas and populations are sourced from the United Nations World Population Prospects, which uses the latest censuses and official figures, as well as figures from the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs .
The United States is the most populous country in the Americas, with nearly 333 million residents across its 50 states. This is followed by Brazil, with nearly 214 million, and Mexico, with its 130 million residents. These three countries comprise roughly two thirds of the Americas' total population.
