Formed in January 1971, the group originally included lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist "Lonesome" Dave Peverett, bassist and backing vocalist Tony Stevens, drummer Roger Earl (all recently departed from Savoy Brown) and lead guitarist Rod Price (formerly of Black Cat Bones). [1]

La banda fue formada inicialmente por Dave "Lonesome" Peverett en guitarras y voz, Tony Stevens en el bajo y Roger Earl en la batería, después de la salida de los tres músicos de la agrupación Savoy Brown en 1970. Craig MacGregor reemplazó a Jameson en Night Shift (1976), un LP producido por Dan Hartman. El directo Foghat Live (1977) cosechó su mejor recibimiento comercial, llegando al puesto número 11 en la lista Billboard. Charlie Huhn, reconocido por su trabajo con Humble Pie y Ted Nugent, fue contratado para reemplazarlo como guitarrista y cantante. Foghat Live is a 1977 live album by Foghat. The release is Foghat's bestselling album with over two million copies sold, and certified double platinum in the United States. [1] In 2007, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the album, Foghat released the Live II double album.
Fool for the City is the fifth studio album by English rock band Foghat, released on 15 September 1975. Featuring the band's signature song "Slow Ride", along with the title track, it was the band's first album to go platinum.
