I'll tell you why I chose Columbia over Barnard as a STEM major from NYC with 3+ years of advanced research experience: Columbia spends a billion dollars in research annually. Additionally, Barnard's professors are tenured at Columbia, not Barnard. Barnard has very limited, competitive research programs.
Admissions. Barnard students change the world and how we view it. They are bold, thoughtful, analytical, intrepid and ambitious. They love to learn and make connections from the classroom to the world around them. The admissions team seeks candidates such as these to fill our first-year and transfer classes.
Barnard and Columbia partner on several 4+1 Pathways that let you earn a Barnard bachelor’s degree and a Columbia master’s degree in just five years. One of the newest is in engineering and applied sciences.
