The Lost World is a 2001 British made-for-television film adaptation of the 1912 novel of the same name by Arthur Conan Doyle, directed by Stuart Orme and adapted by Tony Mulholland and Adrian Hodges. It was filmed at various locations on the West Coast of New Zealand.

The Lost World. At the dawn of the 20th Century, an expedition leaves foggy London to explore a secluded plateau in the impenetrable jungles of South America. They find a world where time has stopped, and man battles not only with savage dinosaurs, but also with his own primitive ancestors.
Part 1: Directed by Stuart Orme. With Bob Hoskins, James Fox, Tom Ward, Matthew Rhys. Professor Challenger proposes an expedition to discover the home of an animal which he believes to be a prehistoric pterosaur. He gathers an expedition party and journeys to a plateau in South America to find a pathway to a lost world.
Directed by Stuart Orme. Professor Challenger, on an expedition to South America, shoots an animal that he claims is a pre-historic pterosaur. On his return to England, his fellow Professor, Summerlee, and most of the scientific establishment dismiss it as a hoax.
