Roy William Harper, Jr. [1] (born July 13, 1991 [2]) is a street-savvy young man and reformed small-time criminal from the Glades. He is the son of the late Roy Harper, Sr. and an unnamed woman, the fiancé of Thea Queen, and the former sidekick/good friend of Oliver Queen .
Roy Harper is a superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. Roy is one of DC's most longstanding characters, originating in 1940s comics as Speedy, the teen sidekick of the superhero Green Arrow. Like his mentor Green Arrow, Roy is a world-class archer and athlete who uses his exceptional marksmanship to fight crime.
Early life. Harper was born in 1941 in Rusholme, a suburb of Manchester. His mother, Muriel, died three weeks after he was born. From the age of 6, he lived in St Annes-on-Sea, a place he described as being "like a cemetery with bus stops". [5] .
