11 de dez. de 2020 · Text by Kenzo Tange Architects. Built for the 1964 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, the Yoyogi National Gymnasium has become an architectural icon for its distinctive design. The gymnasium hybridizes Western modernist aesthetics and traditional Japanese architecture.
In 1960, it was Kenzo Tange, and in 2020, it is Chairman Paul Tange, who is responsible for the design. Principal Architect Masaki Nakayama says that Chairman Tange is also aiming for a design with a sense of unity but the circumstances are different from those of Kenzo Tange.
