  7. Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon married the Duke of York in 1923. She became Queen Elizabeth when her husband was crowned King George VI in 1937. On the King's death in 1952 she became known as the Queen Mother and her elder daughter became Queen Elizabeth II. She was the first member of the British Royal Family to pass the age of 100.
