PACKAGE files are resource package archives used by a series of games. Main usage: Mainly affiliated with Electronic Arts (EA) games, these files are most often utilized by The Sims and other Maxis games. PACKAGE files help store various compressed archives of one or more game files.
After looking at SimPE and reading on DBPF compression, I could not find out how to decompress the file. I have looked possibly everywhere, and forgive me if it's right in front of my face. Can someone point me to a site or page where it goes over how to decompress DBPF (.package) files?
The package file extension is related to computer game games developed by Maxis studio, which is now owned by Electronic Arts. This format was used in games from popular Sims series as well as in Spore game.
17 de set. de 2012 · Most Sims 2 Data is as you probably know stored in various types of archive files that all have the same internal format such as package, cache, etc. This format is proprietary to Maxis and has been used in the SimCity 4, and The Sims Online as well as this one. Entries may be compressed with RefPack compression depending on their entry data.
DBPF Library. The DBPF Library is a set of classes for reading "The Sims 2" DBPF (.package) files. It can extract both uncompressed and compressed resources of types BCON, BHAV, CTSS, GLOB, OBJD, OBJf, STR#, TPRP, TRCN, TTAB, TTAs and VERS - ie all the ones of use to coding modders. Utils Library.
