THE REAL FACE OF CATHERINE PARR. These are the only three confirmed extant contemporary portraits of Catherine Parr. We have records which suggest Catherine commissioned many miniatures of herself to give to family and friends; sadly we do not know what happened to these.
A drawing from 1782, depicting Kathrine Parr’s lead coffin. On the day of her death, Katharine Parr’s body was hastily sheathed in waxed cloth and wrapped tightly with sheets of lead, impenetrable to the various elements of the idyllic Cotswolds.

Catherine Parr (she signed her letters as Kateryn; 1512 – 5 September 1548) was Queen of England and Ireland as the last of the six wives of King Henry VIII from their marriage on 12 July 1543 until Henry's death on 28 January 1547.
