The University of the West of England (UWE), located in Bristol, is a modern university with roots that date back to the founding of the 16th century Bristol Society of Merchant Venturers' Navigation School . Today, UWE has more than 27,000 students, 4,000 of whom are international hailing from 140 different countries.
The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings for 2024, the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) is ranked within the 501–600 band globally. UWE Bristol has been ranked in the top 45 UK universities and ranked 4th in the South West in the 2024 Guardian League Table.
