The Kuranda Scenic Railway is a tourist railway service that operates along the heritage-listed Cairns-to-Kuranda railway line. Constructed in 1891, the line runs from Cairns, Queensland, over the Great Dividing Range to the town of Kuranda on the Atherton Tableland.
Rising from sea level to 328m, the journey to Kuranda passes spectacular waterfalls and into the stunning Barron Gorge. Meandering through picturesque scenery, you travel through 15 handmade tunnels and a cross 37 towering bridges that stand as a monument to the pioneers of the north.

Kuranda Scenic Railway is able to assist customers who wish to avoid stairs with use of our ramps and lifts at all stations apart from Barron Falls Station. There is a courtesy bus that takes customers from Kuranda Station to Kuranda Village to avoid a slight slope upon entering the village.
