Notable projects included the controversial glass pyramid (1989) at the Louvre in Paris and the offshore Museum of Islamic Art (2008) in Doha, Qatar. Pei was awarded the Pritzker Prize in 1983.

Nascido em Suzhou, China, I.M. Pei cresceu em Hong Kong e Shanghai antes de mudar-se aos Estados Unidos para estudar arquitetura.
