The FitzClarence family was an illegitimate branch of the House of Hanover. Prince William, Duke of Clarence and St Andrews, who later became King William IV of the United Kingdom, had at least ten children with his mistress Dorothea Jordan, all of whom took the surname FitzClarence.
FitzClarence married Mary Wyndham (29 August 1792 – 3 December 1842), daughter of George Wyndham, 3rd Earl of Egremont and his mistress Elizabeth Fox, on 18 October 1819. They had seven children: Lady Adelaide Georgiana FitzClarence (28 August 1820 – 11 October 1883); died unmarried.

Today the title is one of those held by the Fitzclarence family, Earls of Munster, being awarded in 1831 to our subject, George Fitzclarence, the first of that family. Picture his mother, Dora Bland, aged 15 in 1777 and trimming hats in a milliner's shop in Dame Street in Dublin.

Geoffrey George Gordon FitzClarence, 3rd Earl of Munster, DSO (18 July 1859 – 2 February 1902), known as Lord Tewkesbury 1870–1901, was a British peer, and the great-grandson of King William IV by his mistress Dorothea Jordan.
