1976–present. Elliot Easton (born Elliot Steinberg, [1] December 18, 1953) [2] is an American musician who is best known as the lead guitarist and backing vocalist for the American new wave band the Cars. His melodic guitar solos are an integral part of the band's music.

The Cars’ debut record exploded onto the radio in the summer of 1978, with its perfect single “Just What I Needed.” That means Easton’s tasteful left-handed chops have been uplifting our existence for 45 years.

This is like the best thing I've done yet, and you want something different.' So, that's what happened with that.”
